Safeguarding In Education
Safeguarding in Education – Blackpool Safeguarding Partnership
Schools, nurseries, colleges and other education settings across Blackpool play a vital role in safeguarding children and young people. Through daily contact and trusted relationships, education professionals are often best placed to notice early signs of concern, respond to disclosures, and take action that can prevent harm and improve outcomes.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and it is most effective when education settings are fully supported and closely connected to the wider safeguarding partnership. The Blackpool Safeguarding Partnership is committed to working alongside colleagues in education to promote strong safeguarding practice, shared learning and a coordinated response to risk.
This Partnership brings together safeguarding guidance, tools and resources specifically to support education settings, with a particular focus on the role of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and their deputies. The information here and across the site is intended to help you:
-
Understand local safeguarding arrangements and expectations
-
Strengthen policies, procedures and practice within your setting
-
Respond confidently to concerns about children and young people
-
Access training, learning and support across the partnership
You will find links to local and national guidance, learning opportunities, referral pathways, and resources that reflect both statutory requirements and the specific needs of children and families in Blackpool.
We recognise the expertise that exists within education settings and value the contribution you make every day. Safeguarding practice is continually evolving, and this page will be updated to reflect learning, changes in legislation, and emerging local priorities.
If you would like to suggest additional guidance or resources, or if you have an example of effective or innovative safeguarding practice you would like to share with others across Blackpool, we would welcome hearing from you. By working together, we can continue to strengthen safeguarding in education and ensure children and young people are safe, supported and able to thrive.
