Early Help Contextual Toolkit Learning Circle

The aim of this Learning Circle is to explore and discuss a practical, evidence-informed toolkit designed for use with children and young people to support the early identification of needs and risks through an Early Help and contextual safeguarding approach. The Learning Circle will create a collaborative space where practitioners can deepen their understanding of how contextual factors—such as peer relationships, neighbourhood influences, online environments, and community settings—impact a young person’s safety and wellbeing.

Through shared learning, reflection, and practical examples, participants will develop the confidence and skills to use the toolkit effectively as part of their day-to-day work with families. The Toolkit contains a range of adaptable resources and activities that can be used directly with children and young people, as well as with parents and carers, to facilitate meaningful conversations, draw out emerging concerns, and strengthen protective factors.

The tools are designed to complement and enhance Level 2 (targeted early intervention) and Level 3 (complex Early Help) support by:

By the end of the Learning Circle, practitioners will be better equipped to apply contextual safeguarding principles, engage families in conversations that matter, and use the toolkit confidently to support a coordinated Early Help response across services.
